Land and soil bed is the key factor in growing crops. First step in producing fruits and vegetables is preparing the land and Soil. The quality of soil determines the end result. We prepare our soil to high standards by adding the right ingredients such as compost that will keep our farming operations Organic! Next comes sowing the seeds in a way that will help germinate in the right way. This could be broadcasting, dibbling, drilling to sow the seeds.
Omce the seeds germinate, crops start to pick up growth. Regular irrigation and monitoring crops are essential in order to gain healthy yields of crop. We keep away from chemical fertilizing in order to maintain the Organic status of our farm. Plants require healthy amount of water, nutrients, temperature, light. Sometimes is it necessary to use low level Poly tunnels to assist the crop, mainly during the Winter.
The fun part! It is great to see fully grown crops that are healthy and ready to be harvested. Whether it's leafy greens, fruits or Veg, the process has come to a near end. To be able to see the end result is such a joyful time considering the amount of effort gone into the whole process of farming. Harvesting also involves readying the grown crop to be transferred to the consumer's table!
